When people make homemade cards is it tacky to sign or initial them? I don't usually sign my cards, but sometimes I initial the back, or somehow incorporate my initials in the card where they are hidden. I've been asked to create 30 +/- Christmas cards for some of the elderly/sick/shut-ins in our church. I'm kind of hesitant about stamping them "homemade by" or initialing them in any way. Is it tacky to stamp and sign/initial them?

I want to make and sell homemade cards, but........???????? I want to make cards with a photo on the front rather than using a ton of bits and bobs like ribbons and gems on the front, but if i was, for example, wanted to use a vintage photo of Paris that i saw on the internet, would i be allowed or would that be illegal making money off using someones photo? Because i remember last year our school year started small businesses and some people used photos from mags and the internet to use to make bookmarks, and some girls used cut our different pictures from greeting cards to make their own greeting cards. So i want to start my own card business since i can't find a job anywhere so i need to know do my cards need to be original or could i use pictures from the net? BQ: Also i might use photobucket as well to get unique looks, like black and white and colour splash, and i need to know to i need to mention or give them profit for sing their tools, or is it fine that they don't get a profit or something? Im sorry its just that im 17 and im new to doing a business by myself and i just want to make sure im doing everything right and that its legal lol. Thanks!
Is making homemade "Thank you" cards cheap? I was staying with family friends for about a month and they were very generous to me and gave me money. I have made them a thank you card because I think it's more personal then just buying one and signing it. Is it cheap though since they had spend money on me to not buy them a card?
Moms (and Dads) when buying homemade cards-do you prefer they look homemade or more professional? I love paper crafting. I scrapbook a lot, and I never buy a homemade card because I love making them so much. So, I set up a shop on etsy.com. My cards look homemade and I see on the site a lot of the cards look much more professional. Is making your own cards cheap? I was thinking about making my own christmas cards this year, for close friends and family. I'm not too bad at drawing, and when the mood hits me I can be quite creative... but what I was really wondering, was if giving out homemade cards would be considered cheap? It's been putting me off the idea, I'd rather buy the cards if they'd appreciate them more than if I'd taken time out to make them. Thanks for the help :)

How do you make holographic playing cards? I'm referring to the cards that you find in the card games Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh and any others that use the same effect on their cards. Is there some sort of special process or paper they use on the cards? Could you make homemade ones if you struck a fancy to do so? Or is it some secret that the card companies closely guard?
Do you have any homemade card ideas that i can make for my dads birthday? I'm out of ideas I want to make a fun homemade card. just simple and not decked out. I really dont have any great ideas. I've done so many things in the past for his birthday and I feel like I've done everything I can think of if you have any awesome ideas that i can easily do without buying stuff from the store that most of us probably already have in the house then that would be great.
What do you think about a 16 year old guy making a homemade card? I was a bit lazy to go buy me father a card for father's day tomorrow. However i used my initiative and went online and found some great ideas which implemented photos and stuff, but as luck would have it, my printer has some sort of problems which makes it work as far as the actual printing. So what i did was make a copy of the card i saw on the net. On the front i cut out a photo of him and wrote "#1 Dad, Happy Father's Day" and on the inside i wrote my little message, etc. On the back i wrote in tiny writing "Plan 'B' Productions". What do you think? WWYD? @ Tagboy: Yeah its a cheesy cliché but true. Just to me its a bit childish and i feel slightly embarressed. :-S

Are homemade Valentine's cards really better? I just finished making my boyfriend's Valentine's gift. It's a homemade card and some origami fish (he's really into fish lol) and I was wondering if homemade gifts are really better then buying them. Obviously homemade gifts mean more because they are unique and take time but I'm just curious to see what other people think.

Any ideas about a homemade card girls? Hey everyone. It's my girlfriend of a month's birthday in a couple of days. I've made her a homemade card which expresses the way I feel about her. I'm not usually artistically inclined, but my friends say it looks amazing and the intricacy of the design is special apparently. I really want to give it to her, but I'm afraid that she might think it's rubbish and not appreciate it. She might even pick apart its faults in her mind. What do you girls think about this situation? Thankyou.
What are good gift ideas for our military over seas? This year My family has taken on a project to show our support of our soldiers serving in Iraq. We want to prepare 10 gift holiday boxes for 10 of our troops who don't have much family. We are putting cookies, bread, and making homemade cards. WE WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW what are some other ideas to put in the box. Looking for small gifts that would be appreciated & liked, and that they might not have accesses too. We were thinking maybe a couple of books? . Your input would be most appercited & Thank you in advance for helping. Go USA!! I should also tell you that all 10 soilders are people that know me. I have a couple friends serving over there so I've gotten to know a lot of guys before they left. LOL - To each of them I'm sending them something that I know they'd really like, something personal from me. But my whole family wants to be involved so they want extra ideas since I want it to be a suprise I didn't want to ask them what they wanted.
Has anyone ever summited their home-made greeting cards to the (and can you also suggest any other companies? that also buy?) Reason I ask is, I have really excelled in my handmade greeting cards/scrapbooks, etc. But the company listed in one of the most respected and known in general is magazine "Crafts Beautiful" (who has great sister companies, such as "Quick & Easy" and "Let's Make Cards") So the company that is advertising, asking "Do you want to sell your homemade cards that you create?-We've a market for it.....and so on." Has anyone ever sold there handmade cards, and how did it go. Also any other copanies names which offer same would e great. thanks
How do I blur certain parts of a picture? I make homemade cards and envelopes and I would like to add the pictures to a website like a portfolio, but I need to blur out names and addresses. Is there a certain software program or is it something I can do with a photoshop program?
homemade cards and envelopes? Hi! Holiday cards are so expensive these days... i want to get them out soon, so I'm thinking about making simple cards to send to my friends. Of course, if i make the cards, then i have to buy/make envelopes. I was curious about US postal laws.... is it legal to send mail that is a letter and an envelope at the same time? for example, a piece of 8.5x11" paper folded in thirds, addressed and stamped (and tacked down)??? Can I send abnormal shapes, such as a circle folded in half? what is allowed? what specifically is NOT allowed? what postage should i use?
