Royal Mail online postage for card to USA - attaching customs form? I am trying to send a greetings card from the UK to some friends in the US. I have printed off online postage from Royal Mail and they have also told me to print off and attach a customs form. However, I'm not sure how to attach it - my only thought is a staple but this would damage the card. Do I actually need a customs form to send a greetings card?

How much longer will we endure the Iranian threat of getting nukes? How much longer are we going to put our people at risk of being nuked. How much longer will we allow the Iranian regime to disrespect our values and customs, knowing they insult us. Why can't we just wipe them off the map, as they said they'd do with Israel. I think it's time for them to own up. Let's show them who the bad guy is. Thoughts? Greetings from Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Partyline creating website I forgot? So a long time ago I found this website where you could create a partyline (Either a single room line, a multi-room line, or an actual partyline with the features of voicemail, chatrooms, and a custom greetings feature). The name was like teleSOMETHING.com and they had like demo numbers on the home page... All the demo numbers started with 218 (No, It wasn't the uncensored partyline BTW) Also, you could customize the greetings 100% even when it said a number the main greeting, every single little thing with your OWN voice... It was 100% free. They actually paid you so much for the minutes you collected on your line... Anyone know the website? I REALLY need it. Thanks!!!
Help me understand overly-excited southern black street greetings? Please no racist answers.? I just moved into a predominately black southern neighborhood in South Carolina and I’m seeing a strange, unknown (to me) custom. The other inhabitants of this neighborhood seem to not be able to drive by their friends and neighbors without honking, waving and yelling at one another. The residents around me see each other a couple times a day, yet act like they haven’t seen each other in years – and may never again. I thought it might just be a southern thing, but it does not happen across town at my friend’s predominately white neighborhood. Both are of the same socioeconomic class, and assumed, same intellectual class. So by process of elimination, it has to be simply a traditional southern back thing (lacking a more indiscriminate term) that I just don’t understand. I do mean this in all seriousness and do not mean to offend in any way. I have always lived my life in very mixed neighborhoods in the north where everyone seems to have melted into each others customs. Thank you
How to read/write the advanced File Summary information in XP/2003? Greetings. I need to write a utility that can read/write the advance File Summary information. (the info you get when you right-click and get the "Properties" of a file, under the "Summary" tab) I have found that you can reference some of the office properties with IPropertySetStorage (like Title, Subject, Author, Keywords, Comments, Template, Last Author, Revision Number, Edit Time, Last printed, Created, Last Saved, Page Count, Word Count, Char Count) but I want to get to other file formats as well. For example, I want to read the "Artist" and "Album Title" of a WMA file, which don't appear to be stored in the custom attributes of IPropertySetStorage. The goal is to see data that's already in the files on my system, as well as start tagging files for a search tool we've developed. TIA.
What are the possible questions United States Customs will ask you? My father is going to Korea, but to do that he needs to wait in transit for about 10 hours in the LAX airport. Usually someone that is fluent in English goes with him. However, this time I cannot go and other people cannot go either. So i need to teach him some basics because he knows 5% English. This 5% is some greetings and thank you. I think that is about it. He has everything he needs. I guess that includes the American Visa.

A question on Rama Nanavami. May I know the reasons for the following custom in Tamil Nadu on Rama Navami Day? In Tamil Nadu only, it is a practice to offer to Lord Ram ""Paanakam"(a drink made of jaggery, cordamom(elaichi) powder, dry ginger (sukku)) and Neer More (watery butter milk) alongwith a salad made from Green dal, mango pieces and green chillies and I have not seen this kind of offerings in other parts of India. Is there any significance reason for this ??? Today on Rama Navami, I convey my heartful Greetings to one and all of our Y/A and pray Lord Rama to shower his Blessings for our prosperous life.

Jamaica acculturation, customs, and contributions to the world.? How have other countries changed Jamaica's culture by their influence, what are some traditions, greetings, jokes, etc of Jamaica, and how has Jamaica contributed to the world.
Why do WASPs get insulted by the term Anglo? I have noticed some wasps are insulted or dont take the term Anglo or even wasp very well. Why I dont understand? In America, there are literally many different cultures, with different values, mentatlites, ways of doing things, customs, perspective, greetings, etc. Many people understand this and accept it, but how do you classify an mainstream American? If you call them American, that tells you their nationality, but that doesnt really explain their culture, since someone could be culturally Armenian or Arab and be an American citizen. If you call them English, they will deny it. If you call them a wasp or Anglo, often they will be upset or insulted. If you call them anglo-germanic or western european, they will be insulted or deny it. So what do you call them? American I guess works, but then again isnt anyone with an American citizenship an American? So that doesnt really clarify their cultural background. It seems they dont want to identify with their cultural background
Isn't what we did in Grade school on Valentine's Day sometimes more fun than now? Actually, my fondest memories of Valantine's Day is in grade school where we made those little custom mailboxes out of foil and construction paper, then gave and recieved sweet smelling valentines from everyone. I could always tell who cared the most, just by the subtlety of what they wrote in the greetings. Maybe they should force everyone to do the same thing nowadays in college and in the workplace....

does the magna carta talks about the right to jury in a civil trial? Preamble: John, by the grace of God, king of England, lord of Ireland, duke of Normandy and Aquitaine, and count of Anjou, to the archbishop, bishops, abbots, earls, barons, justiciaries, foresters, sheriffs, stewards, servants, and to all his bailiffs and liege subjects, greetings. Know that, having regard to God and for the salvation of our soul, and those of all our ancestors and heirs, and unto the honor of God and the advancement of his holy Church and for the rectifying of our realm, we have granted as underwritten by advice of our venerable fathers, Stephen, archbishop of Canterbury, primate of all England and cardinal of the holy Roman Church, Henry, archbishop of Dublin, William of London, Peter of Winchester, Jocelyn of Bath and Glastonbury, Hugh of Lincoln, Walter of Worcester, William of Coventry, Benedict of Rochester, bishops; of Master Pandulf, subdeacon and member of the household of our lord the Pope, of brother Aymeric (master of the Knights of the Temple in England), and of the illustrious men William Marshal, earl of Pembroke, William, earl of Salisbury, William, earl of Warenne, William, earl of Arundel, Alan of Galloway (constable of Scotland), Waren Fitz Gerold, Peter Fitz Herbert, Hubert De Burgh (seneschal of Poitou), Hugh de Neville, Matthew Fitz Herbert, Thomas Basset, Alan Basset, Philip d'Aubigny, Robert of Roppesley, John Marshal, John Fitz Hugh, and others, our liegemen. 1. In the first place we have granted to God, and by this our present charter confirmed for us and our heirs forever that the English Church shall be free, and shall have her rights entire, and her liberties inviolate; and we will that it be thus observed; which is apparent from this that the freedom of elections, which is reckoned most important and very essential to the English Church, we, of our pure and unconstrained will, did grant, and did by our charter confirm and did obtain the ratification of the same from our lord, Pope Innocent III, before the quarrel arose between us and our barons: and this we will observe, and our will is that it be observed in good faith by our heirs forever. We have also granted to all freemen of our kingdom, for us and our heirs forever, all the underwritten liberties, to be had and held by them and their heirs, of us and our heirs forever. 8. No widow shall be compelled to marry, so long as she prefers to live without a husband; provided always that she gives security not to marry without our consent, if she holds of us, or without the consent of the lord of whom she holds, if she holds of another. 9. Neither we nor our bailiffs will seize any land or rent for any debt, as long as the chattels of the debtor are sufficient to repay the debt; nor shall the sureties of the debtor be distrained so long as the principal debtor is able to satisfy the debt; and if the principal debtor shall fail to pay the debt, having nothing wherewith to pay it, then the sureties shall answer for the debt; and let them have the lands and rents of the debtor, if they desire them, until they are indemnified for the debt which they have paid for him, unless the principal debtor can show proof that he is discharged thereof as against the said sureties. 12. No scutage not aid shall be imposed on our kingdom, unless by common counsel of our kingdom, except for ransoming our person, for making our eldest son a knight, and for once marrying our eldest daughter; and for these there shall not be levied more than a reasonable aid. In like manner it shall be done concerning aids from the city of London. 13. And the city of London shall have all it ancient liberties and free customs, as well by land as by water; furthermore, we decree and grant that all other cities, boroughs, towns, and ports shall have all their liberties and free customs. 17. Common pleas shall not follow our court, but shall be held in some fixed place. 18. Inquests of novel disseisin, of mort d'ancestor, and of darrein presentment shall not be held elsewhere than in their own county courts, and that in manner following; We, or, if we should be out of the realm, our chief justiciar, will send two justiciaries through every county four times a year, who shall alone with four knights of the county chosen by the county, hold the said assizes in the county court, on the day and in the place of meeting of that court. 23. No village or individual shall be compelled to make bridges at river banks, except those who from of old were legally bound to do so. 24. No sheriff, constable, coroners, or others of our bailiffs, shall hold pleas of our Crown. 28. No constable or other bailiff of ours shall take corn or other provisions from anyone without immediately tendering money therefor, unless he can have postponement thereof by permission of the seller. 30. No sheriff or bailiff of ours, or other person, shall take the horses or carts of any freeman for transport duty, against the will of the said freeman. 31. Neither we nor our bailiffs shall take, for our castles or for any other work of ours, wood which is not ours, against the will of the owner of that wood. 35. Let there be one measure of wine throughout our whole realm; and one measure of ale; and one measure of corn, to wit, "the London quarter"; and one width of cloth (whether dyed, or russet, or "halberget"), to wit, two ells within the selvedges; of weights also let it be as of measures. 38. No bailiff for the future shall, upon his own unsupported complaint, put anyone to his "law", without credible witnesses brought for this purposes. 39. No freemen shall be taken or imprisoned or disseised or exiled or in any way destroyed, nor will we go upon him nor send upon him, except by the lawful judgment of his peers or by the law of the land. 40. To no one will we sell, to no one will we refuse or delay, right or justice. 45. We will appoint as justices, constables, sheriffs, or bailiffs only such as know the law of the realm and mean to observe it well. 54. No one shall be arrested or imprisoned upon the appeal of a woman, for the death of any other than her husband 63. Wherefore we will and firmly order that the English Church be free, and that the men in our kingdom have and hold all the aforesaid liberties, rights, and concessions, well and peaceably, freely and quietly, fully and wholly, for themselves and their heirs, of us and our heirs, in all respects and in all places forever, as is aforesaid. An oath, moreover, has been taken, as well on our part as on the art of the barons, that all these conditions aforesaid shall be kept in good faith and without evil intent.

pakastani wedding etiquette? I'm going to Pakistanie wedding and need to know are there any special customs, dattire, gifts and greetings I should be aware of?
akwarrrrrddddddd!!!!? Greeting and farewells with my Boyfreind of 2 years Father is extremely akward. Everyone else in the family is completly bareable to greet with a hug and a kiss as well as the good byes but my bf;s dad is extremely akward. He hardly speaks, ever! He is hispanic so his fist and major language is spanish i speak little to no spanish my first and major language is english and only english. Yesterday I went to say my goodbyes to his father for what must have been the thousanth time ever, and this by far was the most awkward farewell ever. I went to hug him as i always do but he reached his hand out for a handshake. so there i am huggin him and his arm and hand are stuck between are stomachs as we are hugging as i lean over to kiss the cheek as ive always done and as is custom with all of their greetings and farewells he leaned his face away. Mind you this all happened within a matter of seconds i realized it was all very akward and quickly stepped back and away and avoided eye contact with him untill he was out of site. I like to be genuine with my hugs/handshakes a firm yet soft hug with a few pats on the back none of that whimpy crap where its really light and subtle and unreal. I have always given my hugs to the entire family like that and in this case just moments before to his wife. But i have always felt an uneasyness with him and like i said it has always seemed awkward but this time it was really bad. Sometimes i get the sence he doesnt think im good enough for his son. Like his son could do better. Even when our parents met for the first time my mother said the same thing she said she felt an uneasyness about him like he didnt appreciate that my parents let me move in with my bf.(not that they had anything to do with that) Anyways any suggegestions comments whatever how do i make these things less awkward/or a little more beareable. I feel like i;d rather just avoid him for all eternity now. how does one go from giving a hug and a kiss......(on the cheek!!!) to just a handshake, and the only reason i was even doing that form of a greeting in the first place is because like i said its their custom they all greet me like that relatives siblings his whole family. But im def gonna try to just dish out the old handshake unstead.
Is "Saluti" used on Italian greeting cards? Would "Saluti" be appropriate wording on an Italian greeting card? I am making a set of custom greeting cards for a friend, with an image of some of her travels through Italy. I thought she would enjoy it as a form of personal stationary. If I would like the card to read "Greetings" (or something equivalent) -- just one simple word. Could I use "Saluti" for this? Or is there a word that would be better?
Polish greeting customs? I was born in Poland but lived in states most of my life, and am a bit confused on the greetings. I have a cousin same age as me (25) and another younger (14) and aunt and uncle. should i greet them by kissing on the right left then right cheek? is this even still used now, or is this an older custom?
Laser eye surgery quesions that haven't been asked before here...? Greetings~ I'm getting custom intralasik eye surgery in two weeks from now. These questions are directed at people who have experienced the procedure. POST-OPERATIVE CARE: 1) Do not take showers for at least one week, take baths instead. Question: Can I carefully wash my hair, or is it too risky? 2) Humidity levels/air quality- would it be beneficial for me to purchase a humidifier OR an air purifier? I live in an apartment building where the air can be dry, and the hallways can be a bit stinky. Is it worth it to buy either of these appliances? Thanks. I'm getting this surgery so my vision can be up to standard of police forces' requirements. Otherwise I'd never in a million years get it done. I'm terrified! I'm going to ask my doctor these questions but I'd like a little bit of insight first. Thanks in advance!
Would you ever balk at learning sign language? And why? i think its beautiful...and a skill that everyone should be proud to learn.. Thu, Oct 22 08:16 PM As governments rush to roll out mass vaccinations programmes against H1N1 swine flu, one man in eastern France has launched his own campaign to limit its spread -- use sign language. Temporarily replacing the French custom of kissing cheeks with simple greetings in sign language would reduce physical contact, said Hubert Chalet, who co-founded Fais-Moi Signe (Give me a Sign), an association for people with impaired hearing. "What if we substituted cheek-kissing and handshakes with an imaginative and colourful language such as sign language?" Chalet told Reuters by phone from Nantes in western France. He recommends that television news programmes broadcast the sign language for simple phrases such as "Hello", "Goodbye", "How are you?" and "Are you sick?". These phrases could then be used in group situations, he said, for example when an office worker needs to greet a group of colleagues and remove the need for "banal handshakes which are not always enthusiastic". Promoting sign language would also help to bring the hearing and hearing-impaired worlds closer together, Chalet added. While some may balk at the idea of learning sign language, Chalet suggests that hearing-impaired adults could be usefully employed in schools and firms to help teach the basics. "There are enough specialised institutions ... across France to spread the basic rules of sign language," he said, adding, "I'm allowed to dream, no?". http://in.news.yahoo.com/137/20091022/778/tod-use-sign-language-to-help-fight-swin.html
RegularExpression Validation in Gridview in ASP.net? Greetings to all, I am developing a webpage with Gridview. I have some doubts on this. The scenario is: I want to validate the editable columns in the gridview using Redular expression validator. The validation Regular expression(ex:[a-z]) is also a column in the database. But this column may or may not having values in the DB. if Regular expression column has values,it validates successfully. else it accepts only empty string from the textbox.. My requirement is if the custom validation expression is empty then it should not do validation i.e it can accept all kind of string. I think there may be two solutions. 1. changing validation expression to accept all string type if RegEx is empty. 2. Dont do validatation when RegEx column is empty. I could nt find which one is correct. please any one guide to me to solve this.

A question for the very learned in Bible Scripture...? Shalom Aleichem/Peace be unto you. Greetings to you, I was reading this Bible passage: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Gen.%2019:30-32;&version=31; , and I wondered what the older daughter meant by "as is the custom all over the earth." Do you know the answer to that question? Thank you very much in advance for answering.
Did you know that legally, CONSTITUTIONALLY, there should only be 49 states? Am i full of shit? NO! Did you know that the Kingdom of Hawaii never agreed to be a state? America just kind of stole it and claimed it as their own. The treaty between the two expired 7 years after it was signed. America was ONLY supposed to be there temporarily as a military refueling station. This was when coal power was the latest technology and you couldn't make it all the way across the ocean on one load. After the seven years was up, we just never left. Then we annexed it. ILLEGALLY! The way we took it over goes against the constitution AND world laws. The day we sent troops in there, technically it was an invasion. We weren't allowed to do that. Know what we did? We stormed Queen Kamehaha, HANDCUFFED her, imprisoned her, and annexed Hawaii and called it a state. I was at a meeting today with a bunch of natives and naturalized citizens of the kingdom of hawaii, and i learned a lot. A government official proposed a bill that would give hawaiians the same rights and land privileges as native americans, but Hawaiians said NO! and rightfully, because they AREN'T native Americans, because hawaii ISN'T part of america. They're working hard on gaining their independence, and i hope they get it. All of that land was taken from them and sold to other people. WE SOLD LAND THAT DIDN'T BELONG TO US!!! Know what else? Pearl harbor is now EXTREMELY polluted with mercury from the military base that is established there. That is damage to the environment, which the kingdom can sue for i think a billion dollars. Hawaii took that to the supreme court. know what happened? THE SUPREME COURT REFUSED TO HEAR IT! Corruption at its finest, eh? There are native hawaiians who bought property in hawaii, only to find out later that THEY ALREADY OWN LAND RIGHTS TO THE ENTIRE ACRE that their property is on. The Hawaiians are not like the united states. They truly want to look out for the people. America says they do, but compared to hawaii, they're like Hitler. Hawaii has to prejudice. I am a white guy with red hair, and i went to this meeting and felt out of place, but then as i met everyone, they treated me as one of their own. Exchanged greetings in their customs with me. Accepted me. Something cool to note though, is that since my whole family has been adopted into the kingdom of hawaii, if i know what to say, i can get out of certain things. Like if i were to get pulled over for speeding, i could ask "by what authority are you pulling me over?" then it would be "hawaii state traffic laws blah blah" and i could say "well i'm a citizen of the KINGDOM of hawaii, and those laws don't apply to me" Sure i'd have to fight it in court, and sure it would be this HUGE ordeal, and i'd rather just pay the ticket, but the fact remains i COULD do it. I could go on forever about it, but i'm done for now. What do you think about this injustice? Did you have ANY idea? Did you ever learn anything about this in school? *an important correction I overlooked. I had said "queen Kamehaha". That's in correct. "Kamehameha" And yes. That is the same word as in DBZ No, Pam. It isn't LEGALLY a state. It never agreed to be a state, America legally has NO power there, NO authority, and in fact the "state of hawaii"s police are being sued one by one, personally, for trespassing simply for being there. it's beautiful.
Jewish customs( Hugging and showing affection)? I was wondering if somebody could give me insight about Jewish customs in theform of intimacy and ways of sthowing affection. I was wondering how Jewish people show affection as I wasn't sure whether or not they hug eachother etc. I know they are generally quite family orientated but i also know that Chasidim forbids contact between the two sexes. I am curious about the culture for example, french people kiss as greetings etc... Thanks in advance.
Would you buy....? ? OK I've been thinking Would you buy a subscription based membership, of say £30 a year, to login to a site, and design your own greetings card - either from photos or predefined artwork. Adding your own text etc (or even custom images from your pc) Then being able to print them off, cut to size and send? Or to email off - like an e-greetings card ? Do you like the idea? Would you buy it? Can you see any flaws?

(Repost because of high forum traffic:) A question for Judaism practitioners...? Shalom Aleichem. (I'm not Jewish but I respect the different religious customs that I know.) Greetings, I wanted to ask does Judaism teach that the Jews have an everlasting right to declare war on whoever inhabits the land now commonly recognized as Israel? I heard someone say that some (or all, I don't recall which) Ordodox Jews believe that the Zionists are wrong to try to take Israel back without the Messiah. What is your view on this? Thank you very much to all who answer. Shalom Aleichem.
A question for non-American Muslims/Muslims born and raised in a country other than America...? As-Salaam Alaikum. (I'm not a member of an organized religion but I do respect the religious customs that I know.) Greetings, I have studied a little about religion though I'm not a member of an organized religion. Can I ask your opinion of these words from Minister Louis Farrakhan: "Impeach Bush Regime for High Crimes (Farrakhan, Al Jazeera:)" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C9grjaOUkA Thank you very much to all who answer. Thank you very much to all who answer. Shalom Aleichem. To mama_pajama_1, Thanks for answering. First Ma'am, if you implied that I am anti-Semetic because of my question, that is not the case. I guess that you employed some faulty logic deducing that because the question might sound negative about Judaism, I am somehow anti-Sementic. But I'll tell you in truth plainly that I have nothing against the Jews or any Semetic people. I was asking about what Judaism teaches not to make Jews look bad but to understand what it is that Judaism teaches. I hope that you become less paranoid (I guess that's the best word) if you continue to answer my questions. The thought did cross my mind that the question might make Judaism look bad but I didn't feel that appearance should be placed above the truth in this case. As far as the sites you referred, I have witnessed first-hand lying about things in historical accounts. So I'm very particular about my sources. I'm running out of space now but thank you for answering. Shalom Aleichem.
A title for an essay on Russia's customs and traditions? The essay is about Russia, theme is customs and traditions, topics include sports/recreation, holidays, greetings, relationships, visiting, eating, superstitions/beliefs. I'm having trouble thinking of a creative and informative title for my essay. The only thing I could think of was "In Soviet Russia Essay Titles You!!" which I know is lame, and "Russia: The Culture Within the Country", which I think is a bit... boring? Anyway, please give any ideas you have.

Social customs in the UK? I have to put together a PowerPoint presentation on social customs and manners in the United Kingdom. Dress code, tipping, gifts, etiquette, greetings, proper forms of address, attitudes towards foreigners are to be included in this ppt. She prefers to have few to no .com sources, .edu, .org, .gov, or .co. Can you tell me where I can find some good sources or can you tell me a little about the social customs and manners in the UK.
Kind of a tricky 'data validation' formula needed in Excel ? Greetings, I'm an experienced programmer, but I'm somewhat new to the syntax of excel's formulas. What I'd like to do is this... if a user enters text in a cell, (this cell will always contain text... not numbers) and IF that text contains the letters NSF anywhere within the text, I'd like a message to pop up, indicating that text is not valid. Is that possible and if so, how? Im sure it involves clicking DATA - VALIDATION - the SETTINGS tab and then creating a custom formula, but I don't know the syntax to check the entire text, looking to see if 'nsf' is present within that text or not. I could easily do this in the BASIC programming language, for example, but not with Excel. As always, thanks in advance for any replies. Holy Moses... Cozmosis, that works fine. Good work.

Earthlings! I require your help!? Greetings. My name is Zogg. I come from the planet Fsdhjakshdkajs which is far outside your puny solar system. I have been forced to flee my home, as I am being persecuted because my nose is the wrong shape (this is considered a heresy in our culture). I am seeking asylum on the Earth and would like to know which land-mass I should aim to land my spaceship on. I am bringing with me my three wives and 27 children (10 more are on the way). We will be needing a house (rent-free preferably), money with which to furnish it, buy food and clothing, free medical care for myself and my family, and free education for my children. I do not intend to work as it is not our custom, so I will require a weekly payment in order for me and my family to live comfortably. If I decide I do not like living on the earth and wish to return to Fsdhjakshdkajs, I would require £4,000 in British Earth-money to set up my own business. Please can you tell me which of your land-masses will provide these?
Christians: If keeping a weekly Sabbath is Required to be Saved Then Why...? ...Why wasn't this told to gentile Christians in the 1st century? Some Jewish Christians started saying that gentile converts had to be circumcised: "And certain men came down from Ju·de´a and began to teach the brothers: “Unless YOU get circumcised according to the custom of Moses, YOU cannot be saved.”" (Acts 15:1) The brothers arranged for Paul and Barnabas to go up to Jerusalem to speak with the older men and apostles to resolve the issue. However when they got there, the issue was broadened to include observing the Law (which would include keeping the weekly Sabbath): "Yet, some of those of the sect of the Pharisees that had believed rose up from their seats and said: “It is necessary to circumcise them and charge them to observe the law of Moses.”" (Acts 15:5) Since sabbath observance is part of the Law and non-Jews outside of Israel were not followers of the Law, they obviously did not observe the Sabbath. So if Sabbath observance was neccesary for Christians, shouldn't they have been told that they needed to observe the Sabbath in the verses below? "...and by their hand they wrote: “The apostles and the older men, brothers, to those brothers in Antioch and Syria and Ci·li´cia who are from the nations: Greetings! ... 28 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication..." (Acts 15:23,28)
Morals (Aklaq) - A short story [Ramadan]? The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "The best believer is one with the best temper. The best person is one who is best for the people and the most useful person is one who is most useful for the people." It is narrated from Imam Sadiq (as) that when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) got the news of the death of Saad bin Maaz Ansari, he proceeded along with the companions to join the funeral procession. He stood near Saad bin Maaz Ansari while he was given the ritual final bath. When the bath was over, he accompanied the bier without footwear and bare-head as is the custom of the mourners. He sometimes carried the bier on his right shoulder and at other on his left. On reaching the graveside, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself descended into the pit and with his own hands lowered Saad bin Maaz Ansari into the grave. Then he arranged the bricks in the grave and put soil to fill the grave. While putting soil into the grave the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "Saad's mortal remains will get lost in the soil but Allah (SWT) likes that the deeds one does are good and durable!" When the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was giving the last touches to the grave of Saad, the dead companion's mother cried, 'O Saad! Greetings on your achieving the Heaven!' The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, 'O mother of Saad! Keep quiet! At the moment Saad is undergoing the pressures (Fishaar) of the grave!' When the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) returned from the grave yard, the companions asked him, 'O messenger of Allah! The way you have attended Saad's funeral, we have not seen you do any time in the past. You went bare-footed. You kept your head uncovered.' The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) replied, 'I saw the angels do likewise and I followed suit.' The companions asked, 'Sometimes you carried the bier on your right shoulder and at others on the left?' The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) replied, 'I was with Jibreel (Gabriel), whichever side he went, I went the same way!' The companions asked, 'You have yourself given bath to Saad, led the funeral prayer, lowered him into the grave and in the end said that he was undergoing the Fishaar of the grave!' The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) replied, 'Saad was undergoing the Fishaar because he used to treat the people of his house and friends with ill-temper.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~
is there a part in the magna carta which talks about keeping bear arms?

Are my atheist friends enjoying the Holidays? I thought I'd share this with you... 7 Reasons for Atheists to Celebrate the Holidays By Greta Christina, AlterNet Posted on December 19, 2009, Printed on December 26, 2009 http://www.alternet.org/story/144685/ It's often assumed that the atheist position on what is politely termed "the holiday season" is one of disregard at best, contempt and annoyance at worst. After all, the reasons for most of the standard winter holidays are supposedly religious -- the birth of the Savior, eight days of miraculous light, yada yada yada. Why would atheists want anything to do with that? But atheists' reactions to the holidays are wildly varied. Yes, some atheists despise them: the enforced jollity, the shameless twisting of genuine human emotion to sell useless consumer crap, the tyrannical forcing of mawkish piety down everyone's throats. (Some believers loathe the holidays for the exact same reasons.) But some of us love the holidays. We love the parties, the decorations, the smell of evergreen trees in people's houses, the excuse to eat ourselves sick, the reminder that we do in fact love our families and friends. We're cognizant of the shameless twisting and mawkish piety and whatnot -- but we can deal with it. It's worth it for an excuse to drink eggnog with our loved ones and bellow out "Angels We Have Heard On High" in half-assed four-part harmony. (In fact, when it comes to the holidays, atheists are damned if we do, damned if we don't. If we scorn the holidays, we're called Scroogy killjoys. If we embrace them, we're called hypocrites. Oh, well. Whaddya gonna do.) So today, I want to talk about some of the reasons some atheists love the holidays, in hopes that believers might better understand who we are and where we're coming from ... and in hopes that a few Scroogy killjoys, atheist and otherwise, might be tempted to join the party. (If not -- no big. I recognize and validate your entirely reasonable annoyance at the holidays. And besides, Scroogy killjoys are an important holiday tradition.) Speaking of which: Reason #7: Holiday traditions are comforting. The human need for tradition and ritual seems to be deeply ingrained. It's comforting to do things at the same time every day or every year: things we did as children, things our parents and grandparents did. It gives us a sense of continuity, of being part of a pattern that's larger than ourselves, of passing along ideas and customs that we hope will live on after we die. For those of us who don't believe in an afterlife, that last bit can be extra important. And when those customs and rituals are about joy and celebration and people we love and so on, that makes it extra nifty. #6: The holidays connect us with our ancestors...and with the earth and the seasons. In modern civilized culture, we tend to treat the changing seasons largely as a fashion challenge and an excuse to complain. (Even in San Francisco, where the temperature rarely gets above 80 or below 40, we still gripe about the weather.) But the changing seasons were a critically important part of our ancestors' lives; a matter of life and death, watched and marked with great and careful attention. The winter solstice holidays rose up as a way to mark those changes...and to celebrate the all-important imminent return of the sun, warmth and longer days. Celebrating the holidays reminds us of what life was like for the people who came before us -- the people who are responsible for us being here. #5: Presents. 'Nuff said. #4: The War on the War on Christmas. Watching Bill O'Reilly and the Christian Right work themselves into an annual lather over the fact that (a) not everyone in America celebrates Christmas; and (b) some well-mannered businesses choose to recognize this fact by using ecumenical or secular holiday greetings...is some of the best free entertainment we could ask for. Sure, it's theocratic. Sure, it's bigoted. Sure, it has its roots in anti-Semitism and white supremacy. But it's also freaking hilarious. Watching these hypocrites twist themselves into knots explaining why America is a Christian nation and it's the grossest insult to acknowledge the existence of other religions by saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"... and why this stance somehow isn't shameless religious bigotry? It's the best contortionist act in town. And like the circus, it comes around every year. #3: The holidays connect us with the universe. Axial tilt is the reason for the season! For many atheists, one of the greatest joys of atheism is that it opens up an awe-inspiring world of science. It's not that believers don't care about science: many of them do. But the passionate love of science is a defining feature of the atheist movement, and many of us will take any opportunity to gush about the topic ad nauseam, usually in embarrassing, Carl Sagan-esque, "billions and billions of stars" purple prose. And the holidays are another excuse to go gaga ove

I'm planning on moving to Japan but first I'm going to visit it, what parts should I visit? I want to visit Japan before I move there, I would like to know what places, towns, etc. are the best to visit? What stores might I recognize from America, will I be able to buy American things, food, clothes, etc.? What should I avoid saying or doing to offend people or stick out? I speak a little bit of Japanese, I know the basic greetings, and hopefully enough to squeak by, I've been interested in Japan for a long time so I know a bit about the culture and customs. Basically I want advice from someone who has gone from the US to Japan, and what they learned from their own experience.
Project on New Zealand. :] Just general questions about the people and customs. ? Ok so i'm doing a presentation with a partner for school. & I need to find out these things... -Their personal appearance: how they dress normally, stuff like that -Gestures: Any special gestures? Greetings [like waving]? -Dating & marriage - & major environmental problems You don't need to answer them all. But i would appreciate if you did as many as you can :] Thanks!! & it doesn't have to be in depth, just a little sentence or two about each is fine! Hmm.. when I posted the question it said the catergory was Travel>Austraila & New Zealand> Other. Maybe it's just a glitch :/ oh well. Thanks for your answers to the first three!
